We wish to honor
the memory of
Herb Ware III
and others
by promoting awareness of
glioblastoma multiforme
and the urgent need for
brain cancer research.
Our Story
Prior to September, 2014, the words glioblastoma multiforma (GBM) had not been a part of our vocabulary. However, Herb Ware III was diagnosed with GBM in September, 2014, and bravely fought this incurable disease for 19 months. During his battle, Herb & I talked about organizing a big fundraiser for brain cancer research. However, with all of our energy being directed at fighting this dreadful disease, we were not able to host a fundraiser during his lifetime..... my mission is to follow through with this vision by organizing fundraising events annually.
Currently, the average life expectancy for a person diagnosed with GBM is 14 months with treatment. We desperately need to improve this statistic, and ultimately find a cure.
In addition to raising money for research, Herbish fundraisers strive to raise funds for people with all types of cancer who need financial help with their non-medical expenses. While at MD Anderson, we were heartbroken by the financial struggle so many families were facing. I know if Herb were still here, he would also want to lighten this burden for as many families as possible.
Thank you for your support of our cause. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many!
